A missional church is one who joins the mission of Jesus to the world as the core of their existence.  We believe that every Christian is called to love the people in our city, nation, and world by meeting their physical and spiritual needs.  Below are several different ways that you can get involved.

Local Missions:

  • City Team Ministries- City Team is a homeless shelter in Downtown Seattle that serves over one hundred meals a day to the poor and homeless of the city.  ECF has been involved with this ministry for several years.  Click Here for more details
  • New Horizons Ministry- New Horizons is a ministry in Downtown Seattle that focuses on reaching out to the street kids. We have been involved for the past couple years by donating many of the coats and blankets to this ministry from our annual Coat and Blanket Drive.  To find out how ECF is beginning to serve with this awesome ministry Click Here
  • Men's Prison Ministry- This is an incredible opportunity to lead a chapel service in the jail and spend time talking with guys who are there.

  • Proverbs 31:20 Ministries- was founded in 2000 as an outreach to women and children who face need or crisis.  The Ministry operates with an all-volunteer staff.  This organization welcomes people who would like to help with one-time events or ongoing service.  ECF is planning to volunteer help in serving at a wonderful sit-down luncheon at tables hosted and beautifully set by many gracious volunteers.  Please click here to find out more details and how you can serve
  • Redmond Junior High After School Program- The After School Program is a safe place for kids to hang out after school once a week and do fun activities such as dodge ball tournaments, basketball, arts and crafts, movies, ping-pong, and much more.  Our goal is to simply build relationships with kids and love on them the way Jesus did.  This is a huge need for junior highers and so we always need more adult volunteers.

    When:  Every Wednesday from 12:50 - 3pm
    Where:  Redmond Junior High Gymnasium
    Contact:  Jeff Whisler

  • Coat and Blanket Drive- The coat and blanket drive has been established for 7 years now.  This is a time each year when the Congregation pulls together and does a coat and blanket drive for the organizations listed below.  Each year we have teams who go out door to door and invite people to participate with us in helping keep the homeless and less fortunate warm in the winter months.  In the past years we have filled a 14 foot U-haul truck completely full with coats and blankets to be distributed to the organizations.  Each year they are sooooo appreciative of what we bring them.  The people at ECF are so excited to get to be the hands and feet of Jesus every day but especially on those 2 days.  It is always such a spirit filled weekend for us and we all feel so blessed to be able to do this deed of kindness in the name of Jesus.

  • Thanksgiving Baskets- This is a time when our congration comes together to help people in need at the holiday time.  We normally provide 25 Thanksgiving baskets to people in our community.  The baskets contain everything the family will need to have a great Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings.  We get the names of the people from members of our Congregation who know people in need and from several elementary schools in our area.  We have done this for 7 years now and all the receipants each year are so grateful for our help.

  • Christmas Baskets- All the people who receive Thanksgiving baskets are giving the option to return them to us by the first week in December and if they do we refill them for Christmas.  Then we take some of those families and get information about the number in their family and the age and sex.  Then we divide up the names and pass those out to the home groups and we all buy Christmas presents for these families.   We fill the baskets again with everything the family will need to have a great Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings.    The children have a great day opening presents they probably would have never received otherwise.  We have also done this for 7 years now and all the receipants each year are so grateful for our help.

Quotes from people who currently sponsor kids:

Chad Steele-- "I’ve been sponsoring a child through compassion for the last four years now and it has been one of the most beneficial things I feel I have done with my money.  Being able to know that a small 32 dollars a month can and is supporting a child in their learning and well being is a great thing for me to know I am helping to do."

Kayla Erickson-- "I just began sponsoring with the youth group Praise and Worship Ministry in July. I learned a lot about it at the Creation Festival, and it seems to be a really amazing experience. I'm excited to get to know the kids we are sponsoring and build relationships with them through writing letters. We have already received one letter from each child, and they are so thankful that we are supporting them financially and spiritually."

Jace Treat-- "Sponsoring a child with compassion has changed my life. The fact that I know what my money is going towards and what its doing makes me feel like I'm making a difference and that the kid has a chance to be whatever he wants. I feel like what I''m doing today can have made successes in the future."
